The season

  • Open: 15 October 2026 to 15 May 2027.
  • Closed: mid May to mid October, for reef recovery and the southwest monsoon.
  • Opening day: 1,409 visitors, 1,359 on day trips and 50 divers, per the park.

How a trip works

  • Day trips: speedboats leave Thap Lamu pier, just south of Khao Lak, in the morning and return in the afternoon.
  • Liveaboards: divers stay out for several nights to reach the outer sites, including Koh Bon and Koh Tachai.
  • Life jackets: required for every boat passenger on the way out.

Reef rules

  • Reef-safe sunscreen only: the park is checking and campaigning on this from day one.
  • No single-use plastic: bring a refillable bottle.
  • Stay off the coral: no standing, touching or feeding fish.

Timing tips

  • Go early in the season: late October and November are quieter than December to February.
  • Base in Khao Lak: it is the closest coast, about 1 to 1.5 hours by road from Phuket airport.
