Where to stay in Khao Lak

Khao Lak is known for a long Andaman shore rather than a Phuket suburb, so sleep Bang Niang for dinner or Nang Thong if the HKT drive is late. Stay on the beach side of Highway 4.

Khao Lak is a car from Phuket Airport: 70 to 90 minutes north on Highway 4, and Nang Thong is the first useful strip. Bang Niang is a few minutes farther and the usual dinner walk, and Khuk Khak and Pakarang sit later still. Crossing Highway 4 on foot at night is the local hazard.

Book the beach side of the road on Trip.com, and Similan boats leave Thap Lamu only while the park is open (15 October to 15 May). See Similan and Surin, and a 2026 HKT private car often beats a soi hunt after a late flight.

Common questions

Bang Niang or Nang Thong?
Nang Thong if you land late from HKT. Bang Niang if you want a wider beach and a slightly later walk.
Sleep at Thap Lamu?
Only the night before a 06:00 Similan check-in. It is not the swim.
