What it tastes like
- Roasted green chili, shallot, and garlic. Smoky and sharp. It should not taste like bottled salsa.
How to order it
- Thai name: nam phrik num (น้ำพริกหนุ่ม).
- Say: Khor nam phrik num, kap khao niao, khrap/kha.
- A small tub is enough. Pair with sai ua, not a second chili dip from a hotel breakfast.
Typical price
- 2026 cash: Market tub; eat with 20 to 40 THB sides.
Where to try it
- Warorot Market (Kad Luang), Wichayanon Rd, Chang Moi. 06:00 to 16:00. Small tub plus sticky rice. Daytime hall. Huen Phen plates it at a table if you want a sit-down.
Spice level and diet
- Heat: Hot and smoky.
- Diet: Usually vegetarian until you add pork rind. Confirm no shrimp paste if you need it.
