Where to stay in Kanchanaburi
Kanchanaburi is known for a river-town bend and the Kwai bridge, so sleep in town for the cemetery and the morning train. Book two nights if Erawan Falls and the railway story are both on the list.
Back to Kanchanaburi
Sleep in Kanchanaburi town if the cemetery, the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, and a morning songthaew matter. Sleep at Tha Makham if the bridge at dusk is the photo. Upriver rafts fit a second night, not a first pin without a car. Erawan is 65 to 70 km out, about 1.5 hours; a park-gate hotel only helps if the seven tiers are the entire next day.
Trains still leave Thonburi station, not Krung Thep Aphiwat, and see Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. Book two nights on Trip.com if Erawan and Sai Yok and the railway are both on the list, and Foreign adults pay 300 THB at Erawan. A 2026 ordinary train ticket is a day-of third-class fare, not a sleeper.
Which pin fits which night
| Area | Who it fits | 2026 note |
|---|---|---|
| Town and the river bend | Museums and songthaews | Easy logistics |
| Tha Makham / bridge | Dusk on the steel span | Tour buses |
| Sai Yok / upriver | Quieter second night | Far from Erawan |
