Bang Niang
Bang Niang is known for a wider Khao Lak beach and a walkable dinner strip, and it fits Similan weeks. Stay on the beach side of Highway 4, not across the traffic.
Back to Khao Lak
Bang Niang is the strip most first stays should name in Khao Lak, and the beach is wider than Nang Thong. Dinner walks sit on the beach side of Highway 4, and tsunami memorials sit just inland. Crossing the highway at night is the hazard, not the sea.
Fly HKT, then 70 to 90 minutes north, and Similan pickups still go to Thap Lamu while the park is open (15 October to 15 May). A 2026 Grab to Nang Thong is a short hop if you booked the wrong soi, and see where to stay if you want Khuk Khak quiet instead.
When Bang Niang is the right pin
- Yes: Similan week, walkable dinner, a wider beach.
- No: A Patong nightlife plan. This is a highway town.
- Park closed: 16 May to 14 October. Come only if rain on a mainland beach is acceptable.
