Grab, Bolt, BTS, MRT, and ARL

Tap in. Do not cash-negotiate a taxi from the airport unless you like the sport. Grab and Bolt show a price. The BTS is faster than any of them from Asok to Siam at 18:00.

TapBTS and MRT now take contactless cards on most gates
AppsGrab and Bolt; both work

Buy a Rabbit card only if you will ride BTS for many days. A contactless Visa or Mastercard tap is enough for a first week on most gates. Keep a coin stash for the odd older gate.

MRT Blue intersects BTS at Si Lom/Sala Daeng, Sukhumvit/Asok, and Chatuchak. That is the useful map. You do not need the whole system.

Don Mueang has no ARL. Use the A1 bus links, a booked car, or Grab. Suvarnabhumi has ARL and taxis. Book a Trip.com transfer if you land after 22:00 with three bags.

Common questions

Does Grab work at the airport?
Yes, from the designated pickup decks. Follow the in-app pin, not a lobby tout.
BTS or Grab across town?
BTS when both ends are near a station at rush hour. Grab when it rains or you have luggage.
