Where to stay in Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya is known for a ruin day from Bangkok, so stay overnight only if dawn at the bricks is the point. The train is about one hour from Krung Thep Aphiwat.

Most first trips should sleep in Bangkok and ride about one hour from Krung Thep Aphiwat. See Bangkok to Ayutthaya. Overnight in Ayutthaya only if you want 07:00 at Wat Mahathat or Chaiwatthanaram without a capital alarm. Book park-side, not a highway box on the industrial ring.

Paid sites are 80 THB each or 300 THB as a combo for foreigners, and Bang Pa-In is an add-on, not a reason to hotel in the palace suburb. A 2026 evening meal in Ayutthaya is thinner than Sukhumvit, and that is the point if you stay.

Common questions

Is Ayutthaya worth an overnight?
Only if you want dawn at the ruins. A full day from Bangkok covers the main paid wats.
Where exactly to sleep?
Near the historical park. Not out on the ring road.
