What it tastes like
- Potato, peanut, and cinnamon warmth. It is the mild plate in a room that also pounds papaya.
How to order it
- Thai name: kaeng matsaman (แกงมัสมั่น).
- Say: Khor kaeng matsaman, khrap/kha.
- Say pet nit noi if you want it mild. Plates were 80 THB in December 2024, except khao soi at 100 THB. Confirm the paste has no fish sauce if that matters.
Typical price
- 2026 cash: 80 THB.
Where to try it
- On's Thai-Issan, 77/9 Mae Nam Kwai Rd, Tha Makham, Mueang Kanchanaburi 71000. 10:00 to 21:00 daily. 80 THB. Skip this, go here: skip this curry if you wanted fish sauce and meat. A standard massaman is a different kitchen. Stay if you need the peanut curry without either.

- Is the kitchen fully plant-based?
- The room trades as a vegan Isan kitchen. Say so if a shared table is mixing orders from elsewhere.
- How spicy is the massaman?
- It is the mild plate, but a little spicy here can still be hot. Say pet nit noi, or mai pet if you want no chili.
