Getting around Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya is known for an island you cannot cover on foot in April, so stay on a bicycle or a tuk-tuk. The train from Krung Thep Aphiwat is about one hour.

Ayutthaya station sits on the east side of the island, and read Bangkok to Ayutthaya for Krung Thep Aphiwat versus Hua Lamphong. From the platform you need a tuk-tuk, a bicycle, or a long hot walk, and the historical park is a loop, not a single gate.

Foreign tickets are 80 THB per paid site or 300 THB combo, and Wat Chaiwatthanaram is west of the river. Bang Pa-In is a south add-on, and day trip first; overnight only for dawn. A 2026 bicycle rental is a few hundred THB for the day if you bargain once, and see Ayutthaya for the stay-or-go call.
