Phuket to Khao Sok
Khao Sok is known for Cheow Lan Lake, not a beach. From Phuket it is an Andaman-side van, about three hours. Sleep in the village if you leave after lunch. Go straight to Ratchaprapha Pier if the raft house is booked.
From Phuket you climb off the island, run north through Phang Nga, and join the Khao Sok approach. Shared vans leave Phuket Bus Terminal 2 and hotel desks through the morning. Private cars leave when you do. Krabi is a similar inland van, often a bit shorter from Town than from Ao Nang traffic.
Do not treat the lake pier as a Phuket day trip. The road, the booth, and the longtail eat the useful light. Overnight on the water or skip it.

If the lake is the point
Ratchaprapha Pier, also called Cheow Lan Pier, is in Ban Ta Khun, Surat Thani. From the village it is about 60 to 65 km east, roughly an hour. From Phuket you can skip the village if the raft house already sent a pickup pin.
Cash for the 300 THB foreign lake ticket and the pier fee. Headquarters is a different booth on a different day. Longtails are loud, wet, and the only machine that reaches the karsts. Pack a dry bag. Check on arrival for boat queues after 10:00.
