Where to stay on Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta is known for a long west-coast hotel road rather than one village, so sleep Klong Dao if you want dinner and sleep farther south if you want a quieter bay. Name the beach before you search the island.

SeasonNovember to April

The west-coast road drops south from Saladan, and Klong Dao is the first useful sand: shallow water and dinner. Long Beach is next, and Klong Khong and Klong Nin sit mid-island. Kantiang and the far south are quieter and a longer transfer, and Saladan itself is a port town. Sleep on a beach if you can.

Reach Lanta from KBV by van plus the car ferry from Hua Hin pier on the Krabi side (not the Hua Hin resort town), or by Saladan passenger boat from about November to April (about 2 to 2.5 hours). Those boats thin or stop May to October, and the road still works. Book a pickup, and pair with Krabi to Koh Lanta.

Common questions

Klong Dao or Kantiang?
Klong Dao for a first stay and dinner. Kantiang if you want a quieter bay and accept the transfer.
Can you day-trip Lanta from Ao Nang?
Do not. The transfer eats the morning. Sleep at least three nights.
