The compound wraps the 1880s Borneo Company manager residence. Suites sit in garden buildings around the teak house. You are east of the Ping. The Old City is about 10 to 15 minutes across Nawarat Bridge.

Nawarat Bridge is the walk to Tha Phae. The Old City is close enough for late afternoon, far enough that you will Grab in the heat. This is the stay if you like a quiet soi and a house museum feel. It is not Nimman.

Wat Gate sois

Wat Ketkaram and the river path are the morning. Lung Khajohn Wat Ket is the Bib street stall if you want noodles without crossing the water. Anantara sits on the opposite bank, louder and more resort. Four Seasons is a valley drive.

Do not expect a scene at the gate. Dinner is the hotel, a Wat Gate cafe, or a crossing to Tha Phae. Sunday Walking Street is the one night the west bank becomes a crowd; walk over and walk back.

Common questions

Is Wat Gate too far from the wats?
It is the other side of one bridge. That is a feature in the afternoon heat. If you want to walk every temple at 08:00, sleep inside the moat instead.
