Sukhothai Historical Park

Sukhothai Historical Park is known for lotus-bud chedis you bicycle at opening, and the central zone is 200 THB for foreigners from 06:30 to 19:30. Stay in Old Sukhothai so you can start cycling at opening time instead of spending that first hour on a transfer.

The inner historic zone is the visit: Wat Mahathat, Wat Sa Si, Wat Si Sawai; foreigners pay 200 THB for the central zone. Hours are 06:30 to 19:30 most days; rent a bicycle at the central gate. Northern and western zones are extra tickets if you still have legs.

Sleep in Old Sukhothai. Bangkok Airways uses Sukhothai Airport (THS) when it fits; Phitsanulok is a separate city about 70 km east, the cheaper airport fallback, then a westward van via the new town into Muang Kao, about one hour by car or 1 to 1.5 hours by bus. If you only have one day from Bangkok, Ayutthaya is the ruins trip by train, and Si Satchanalai is a second morning to the north; see day trips. If an old QR page still shows 100 THB, pay the price posted at the staffed ticket booth.
