Krabi to Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta is the long Andaman island south of Krabi, known for west-coast beaches and a slower pace than Phi Phi. In season, boat to Saladan. All year, take the road and the Ban Hua Hin car ferry. That pier is in Krabi, not the gulf resort.
Koh Lanta Yai is a long west-facing island. Boats land at Saladan. Hotels sit down a single west-coast road. Book a pickup when you book the room. A tuk-tuk at Saladan is not a Bangkok habit. All year, the road and Ban Hua Hin car ferry still work.
From Krabi Town, passenger boats leave Klong Jilad mainly November to April. From Ao Nang they leave Nopparat Thara. Bundhaya and Andaman Wave Master are the names you will see. From May to October those passenger boats thin out or stop. The road still works.

The car ferry people confuse
Ban Hua Hin pier is not Hua Hin town. If the map pin sits in Prachuap Khiri Khan you have the wrong province. Songserm Tran Service runs the short crossing, about 15 minutes, up to about 45 cars. December and January queues can add hours. Leave slack if you have a KBV flight the same day.
A mainland-to-Lanta Noi road bridge was contracted in 2026 and is not open. Until it is, every road journey still boards a ferry.

- Car ferry. Treat a passenger boat as a bonus if it still sails. Confirm the hotel is open before you book a green-season rate.
- Can you day-trip Lanta from Ao Nang?
- The transfer eats the morning. Stay four nights if Lanta is the south, two if it is a pause after Krabi.
- Where do you land?
- Saladan for passenger boats. Khlong Mak on Lanta Noi for the car ferry, then the bridge. They are not interchangeable pins.
